All Progressives Congress (APC) national
convention committee.
The chairman of the convention committee,
Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa state, led
the committee to meet the speaker in Abuja,
Nigerian Tribune reports.
adegokblog .com notes that after being received by the
APC leadership in the House led by the speaker,
they had a closed-door meeting, which lasted for
about 50 minutes.
According to Governor Badaru, the committee
was at the speaker’s office to brief him on the
progress made so far by the committee.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state is
serving as the deputy chairman of the committee
while Senator Ben Uwajumogu is the secretary.
Meanwhile,
previously reported that the
Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress on
Sunday, June 3, said it would sue the National
Working Committee (NWC) for overruling its
state congress. The assistant publicity secretary
of the party, Abiodun Salami, issued the threat in
an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) in Lagos.
He was reacting the overruling of the main
congress of APC at ACME on May 19 by the NWC
over issues of legality. Another congress was
convened the same day by a chieftain, Fouad
Oki, on the grounds that the ACME congress
lacked legal basis as it was conducted based on
wards in 57 council areas instead of 20 approved
by INEC.
