Ending of the world photo of First ever gay Muslim weddingin the United Kingdom
A gay Muslim man and his partner have become the first Muslims to wed in a same sex marriage in Britain. 24-year-old Jahed Choudhury married his male lover, 19-year-old Sean Rogan, who saved him from committing suicide years ago.
Jahed from West Midlands grew up feeling ostracized by the Muslim community because he was gay. Because of his sexual preference, he was considered the black sheep of the family and was sent on a religious pilgrimage hoping that would 'cure' him of being gay.
After years of being bullied, he contemplated taking his life and was sitting on a town bench in Darlaston, crying, when he met Sean.
Sean comforted him and they began dating. They finally got married in a ceremony in Walsall registry office, both wearing traditional Bangladeshi wedding clothes.
Jahed said: "I was crying on a bench and Sean came over and asked if I was okay. He gave me hope at one of my lowest points and he's stood by me all the way. I stood out like a sore thumb - I never liked football, I preferred watching fashion shows on TV. I remember feeling trapped. It went all over school, people would spit on me, empty the rubbish bins on me, call me pig and the Muslim people would shout 'harum' - which is a very nasty insult in my language."Jahed was made to date girls, change his social circle, take medication and even go on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh in a bid to change his sexual orientation but nothing worked. Until he overdosed on pills and sat on that bench crying, that was when his life turned around. His wedding to Sean was well attended by family and friends of both men. Jahed's mother, sister, older brother and cousin witnessed the wedding, as did Mr Rogan's mother, two sisters and older brother.
Jahed said: "My mum has always been so supportive. Without her I would not be here today. It was lovely for both out families to be there. We get on really well. It was just close friends and family who were invited as I did not want a big wedding. It was just perfect the way it was."
After the wedding, Jahed said they will have a huge party in Darlaston then go to Spain for a week of honeymoon. He further disclosed that Sean is considering converting to Islam, but that they would struggle to find a mosque. He said he told Sean to convert on his behalf and also to wear the Bangladeshi traditional attire for their wedding and he agreed to both.
He said: "The outfits are traditional Muslim-Bangladeshi outfits. Everyone wears them for a wedding at home. I told Sean I thought it would be very nice to wear them and he agreed. Also, they look very pretty. Sean is considering converting to Islam. I asked him if he would on my behalf. We would not be able to find a place of worship however. We would not be welcomed by any mosques. I have heard about the liberal mosque in Berlin that opened recently where they are a lot less traditional. It sounds fantastic. I really want to visit, and wish we could have somewhere like that here."The newlyweds and their families have received a number of death threats since the wedding, but they are determined to ignore them.
Jahed said: "We have had death threats against us and our families. People telling me they are going to kill me and that I should never have been born. They are really vile, horrible comments. But we are so happy we are able to just brush them off. We’ve had an awful lot of support too."
He added: "I want to say to all people going through the same thing that it's okay - we're going to show the whole world that you can be gay and Muslim."
Donald Trump's aides wanted damaging information about Hillary Clinton "so badly" - Russian lawyer says
Natalia Veselnitskaya,
the Russian lawyer caught up in the controversy over her meeting with
Donald Trump Jr. last year denies that she's worked for the Russian
government.
In
an interview on NBC's "Today" show she said that Trump Jr. and others
at the meeting wanted damaging information about Hillary Clinton "so
badly."
Veselnitskaya was asked
specifically how the Trump aides that attended the meeting including
President Donald Trump's son-in-law and adviser, Jared Kushner, and
then-campaign chairman, Paul Manafort had gotten the impression that she
had potentially damaging information about Hillary Clinton.
"It's
quite possible that maybe they were looking for such information, they
wanted it so badly," Veselnitskaya said through a translator. She
described the meeting in some detail, saying she "never knew" who else
would attend the meeting, but was met by Trump and Manafort.
She
continued to say, "all I knew was that Mr. Donald Trump Jr. was willing
to meet with me. I could recognize the young gentleman who was only
present in the meeting for only the first seven to 10 minutes. And then,
he stood up and left the room. It was Mr. Jared Kushner. And he never
came back, by the way. The other individual who was at the same meeting,
was always looking at his phone. He was reading something. He never
took any active part in the information. That was Mr. Manafort."
She was also asked point blank if she had ever worked for the Russian government and she said 'NOBRAKING NEWS Anambra Steta police arrest 24 years mother that sald her baby

Nigerian senate passes bill on compulsory treatment and care of Gunshot victims
Today, the Nigerian Senate passed the Compulsory
Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill. The Bill, which was sent
to the Senate for Concurrence, seeks to establish a law that ensures
that victims of gunshot wounds receive necessary treatment from medical
workers and assistance from security agencies.
Speaking
on the passage of the Bill, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, stated
that not every victim of a gunshot wound is a criminal, hence, it is
important that a legal framework be put into place to avoid unnecessary
loss of lives.
“By the passage of this Bill, the Senate has moved to
ensure that every hospital in Nigeria, both public and private, must
accept to treat victims of gunshot wounds without any clearance from the
police. What we have done is to ensure that everyone is entitled to
medical treatment, irrespective of the cause of the shooting. We should
reserve judgment for the criminal justice system, and leave healthcare
for the medical professionals.”
The
Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill also ensures
that every person including security agents shall render every possible
assistance to any person with gunshot wounds and ensure that the person
is taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. Additionally, the Bill
mandates that no person with gunshot wounds shall be refused immediate
and adequate treatment by any hospital in Nigeria whether or not initial
monetary deposit is paid.
Court jails two oil bunkerers for five years
The convicts were brought before the court on a four-count charge, bordering on conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum products without a license, leveled against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The court found them guilty , convicted and sentenced them accordingly.
The convicts’ journey to prison started on 20th March, 2013 when officials of the Joint Task Force, OPERATION PULO SHIELD Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, while on patrol, arrested them together with a tanker truck, loaded with 33, 000 litres of petroleum products suspected to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil
27-year-old Nigerian man jailed in the US for $1 million bank fraud
Fawaz Olarenwaju Animasaun is one of two people named in a federal indictment for charges of aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit bank fraud, as well as aiding and abetting.
Animasaun was arrested in November 2016 when he arrived New York from Ghana, by way of Amsterdam, on a Delta Airlines international flight 9348. airport. Few weeks later, he was sent to the Gregg County Jail awaiting his turn in a federal courtroom.
Under a plea agreement finalized in May, Animasaun is serving three years in prison on the conspiracy charge. He is ordered to pay $930,737.60 in restitution to three financial companies.
Court documents show Animasaun will pay $135,989 to East Texas-based Austin Bank as part of that restitution.
In addition, the agreement states that Northern Trust Company is due $46,800 and UMB Financial Corporation is due $747,948.60.
Animasaun and his alleged accomplice Idowu Temitope Omolade, also from Nigeria, are believed to be involved in at least 21 fraudulent wire transfers between April and August of 2012. A rare footnote made by a U.S. Attorney in the 21-page federal indictment reads:
“Because the purpose of this complaint is to set forth only those facts necessary to establish probable cause to arrest, I have not described all the relevant facts and circumstances of which I am aware."
The indictment says the purpose of the conspiracy was to “… unlawfully obtain money through unauthorized transfers of funds from bank accounts and brokerage accounts.”
The Nigerian men allegedly impersonated actual account holders in emails exchanged with banking and financial services personnel. In those email conversations, the indictment says the suspects "harvested details about the target accounts, including account balances, and obtained wire transfer instructions."
With those details, the suspects were then able to initiate a wire transfer without the account holder’s knowledge or authorization.
The indictment said that the money was moved through a series of accounts using “money mules,” or people who may or may not have known they were assisting in the transfer.
Other financial institutions affected include Wells Fargo, UMB Bank, UMB Financial Corporation, Northern Trust and Northern Trust Corporation.
Animasaun was transferred out of the Gregg County Jail on June 28, in the custody of the U.S. Marshals. Federal Bureau of Prisons records show he is now in a detention center in Brooklyn, New York, and will remain there until June 2019. He could have received up to 30 years in prison for each count of the indictment.
The indictment states that Animasaun kept Omolade informed of the progress, and told him when to expect specific wire transfers. Omolade is not listed as a federal inmate, and there is no record of an arrest. Aliases listed in the indictment include “Michael Chernick” and “CLICKIDONLINE.”
Animasaun is listed in the indictment with four aliases, including “Larry Hoover” and “Slim Husstle Olanraywaju.”

Lagos Council Polls: Court Orders APC To Conduct Primaries In Odi-Olowo Local Council Development Area
The suit (No.ID/1838/GCM/2017) in which the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) was joined as second defendant, had challenged the process of Mr. Ajala's emergence as candidate. In his ruling on 7 July, Justice Okuwobi said Mr. Ajala filed his application after the court had reserved the matter for judgment.
The court held that Mr. Ajala did not provide sufficient proof of his membership of the APC, a nomination form and a proof that any primary election was held by the party at the Teslim Balogun Stadium. It similarly held that he did not show that he actually won the purported election at Teslim Balogun Stadium.
On these grounds, Justice Okuwobi dismissed Mr. Ajala's application and granted all the reliefs sought by Mr. Saka. The court declared, as null and void, the list of chairmanship candidates to be submitted for the coming council polls in Odi-Olowo LCDA because the APC did not conduct primary elections for the purpose of electing its candidates in accordance with the party's constitution and provisions of the LASIEC Law.
The court equally nullified the aborted centralized chairmanship primary election at Teslim Balogun Stadium, saying it contravened the party's constitution and LASIEC Law. It restrained the APC from submitting any list pending when a proper primary election is conducted within the LCDA.
In addition, the court restrained LASIEC from using any list of chairmanship candidates submitted by the APC for the forthcoming polls in the LCDA, directing the party to conduct a proper primary election for LCDA in accordance with its constitution and LASIEC Law.
Nigerian Defence Academy Undergraduate Murdered By Cultists In Yenagoa, Family Demands Justice
Saviour Enoch, an
undergraduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, was on
Saturday night in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, killed by persons suspected to
be members of a cult.
On Monday, his family urged security agencies in the state to find his killers and bring them to justice.Ovieakini Enoch, the deceased’s uncle, said that 20-year old Saviour was shot dead at about 8 p.m. on the Gwegwe/Naval Road in Ovom, Yenagoa Local Government Area.
He disclosed that Saviour was admitted into the NDA two years ago and that his father, Gbavieme Enoch, also died two years ago while serving in the Nigerian Army in Maidugiri, Borno.
According to him, Gbavieme, who was a Staff Sergeant, was killed while performing a national duty on Jan. 25, 2015.
“That is why Saviour’s death is a painful one,” he said. “We are calling on the police and other security agencies to assist us to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He added he learned the police made some arrests on Sunday night.
Saviour’s mother, who cried uncontrollably, also urged the security agencies to help the family to fish out the killers.
“My son died by shooting and my husband also died by shooting; my husband was a Staff Sergeant in the Army, he died two years ago and now, my son,” she lamented.
Speaking by telephone, ASP Asimin Butswat, the spokesman of the Police Command in Bayelsa, said he would brief journalists on the matter when authorized to do so.
A Deliberate Overlooking Of The Law: A Response To Prof Sola Adeyeye’s “The Rule Of Law Must Prevail" By Dr. Salman Bello
by Salman Bello
Jul 11, 2017
There is no limit set in the Constitution for the number of times that a nominee may be presented to the Senate for confirmation. In the Obasanjo presidency, Prof Babalola Borisade was presented four times in 18 months to the Senate and he was finally confirmed. You asked the rhetorical question whether the American Senate could ever tolerate such a situation? Well, the fact is that also under American law there is no limit to the number of times a nominee may be presented. I will cite two examples: Caleb Cushing & Charles Beecher Warren. Cushing was – nominated by President John Tyler in 1843 as Secretary of Treasury, but the Senate rejected his nomination. Cushing was nominated three times for the position but was rejected all three times. In the end, John Canfield Spenser was nominated, and confirmed, for the position.
Charles Beecher Warren – Nominated twice by President Calvin Coolidge in 1925 as Attorney-General of United States, but twice the nomination was rejected by the Senate because of Warren’s close association with the Sugar Trust, which created a potential conflict of interest, particularly in relation to the enforcement of Federal Antitrust Laws.
Besides, President Buhari is on record as having asked the past Attorney-General to investigate the allegations against Magu, he did, and it was based on his finding of a no-case that the President again presented Magu for the second time. What we are told is that the DG, SSS presented two conflicting reports and that he did not present a fresh report on the second occasion.
2. Dear Prof, being a man concerned with the rule of law, are you not embarrassed, that over 15 members of the Senate of which you are a member are now currently being prosecuted by the EFCC? The Senate President is being investigated by the same EFCC for embezzling over N3.5b of Paris Club refunds meant for the States. None of the Senators on trial has stood down ( as did judges on trial and recently the SGF and NIA boss under investigation but not under trial!) And it is the same Senators, not even politely excusing themselves from the confirmation proceedings of their prosecutor/investigator, who voted to reject a man widely seen by the public as fighting corruption. This is why Nigerians are “justifiably angry” with your Senate. This is why they are crying witch-hunt!
3. It is worth noting that the provisions of Section 171 of the Constitution broadly classifies Presidential appointments into two. Those requiring Senate confirmation and those not requiring same. Extra ministerial bodies such as the EFCC are specifically excluded. By submitting the name of Magu for confirmation ostensibly under the EFCC ACT, the executive wittingly or unwittingly acted unconstitutionally. This is because any legislation that is inconsistent with the provision of the Constitution is null and void and of no effect whatsoever to the extent of such inconsistency.
Please review the Supreme Court case of DR. OLUBUKOLA ABUBAKAR SARAKI v. FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA (2016) LPELR-40013 (SC).
There the Supreme Court said: “the time-honored principle of law is that wherever and whenever the Constitution speaks, any provision of an Act/Statute on the same subject matter must remain silent…” (Per Muhammad JSC)
Section 2(3) of the EFCC Act which provides for confirmation of the Senate must, therefore, be silent in the face of Section 171 of the Constitution. The legal consequence is that the section is null and void as being inconsistent with Section 171 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
But I agree Prof, that the issue can only be resolved by a court. This probably explains why the Executive has continued to send nominations for confirmation provided for under different Acts to the Senate. However, the refusal of the Senate to entertain those nominations suggests that the Senate has now constituted itself to a court, and has decided the interpretation in its own favor. It seems to me Prof, that it is the distinguished Senators, your own colleagues who must now respect the rule of law.
Perhaps the last point. It seems that there is a peculiarity about the Magu case. He was until his appointment a senior officer of the EFCC. He was appointed to act when the then substantive Chairman Ibrahim Lamorde was removed. This is unlike any nominee who is an outsider to the institution to which he has been appointed. His rejection by Senate to take on the substantive position of chairman should not in any way disturb the administrative arrangement of his acting in that capacity until another person is appointed and confirmed. Senate should not interfere with purely administrative decisions, within the purview of executive functions.

Ifeanyi Ubah Falls Out With Emeka Offor, To Demand N400m Loan Refund
Ubah has been complaining to friends and family members that Offor, a close friend of his since the past three years, has stabbed him in the back. He is, therefore, preparing for a showdown with Offor.
Two of those in whom Ubah confided said the chairman of Capital Oil claimed that Offor was responsible for his arrest and detention by the Department of State Security (DSS) for six weeks until his release on June 20. The DSS charged Ubah with stealing N11 billion worth of petroleum products belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The products were kept in Capital Oil’s storage facility in Apapa, Lagos, for a fee. Ubah has countered the allegation by claiming that the NNPC has owed him N13bn for long.
According to one of the sources, Ubah stated that Offor furnished the DSS with information he had confidentially shared with him. In addition, Ubah believes that Offor horribly twisted the narrative he gave to top DSS officials in order to make the chief executive of Capital Oil look extremely bad in the eyes of both government officials and the Nigerian public.
Our source said Ubah insisted that there was no other person with whom he shared certain information than Offor, adding that during numerous sessions of grueling interrogation the DSS officials used exactly the same words and names he used in discussions with Offor. “Chief Ifeanyi feels betrayed because he said he was treating Sir Emeka [Offor] as his brother since they hail from neighboring communities. Mr. Offor is from Oraifite town and Mr. Offor from Nnewi.
Accusing Offor of being the worst traitor he had ever met, Ubah has told friends that the embattled Offor deliberately distorted information in leaks to top DSS executives in a bid to curry favor from the Muhammadu Buhari government. On coming to office, Mr. Buhari told his senior aides that Offor represented the worst breed of “government contractors,” adding that he had no desire to interact with Offor who first came into money through a controversial turnaround maintenance contract during the brutal reign of military strongman, Sani Abacha. On coming to power, President Buhari blacklisted Offor on account of his legacy of shoddy work on public contracts, including the turn-around (TAM) contracts at both the Warri and Port refineries which led to the collapse of the two strategic national firms.
Saharareporters learned that, a few weeks after assuming office, Buhari warned his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, against allowing Offor into the Presidential Village in Abuja, describing him as “a mere Aso Rock contractor”. The instruction was subsequently passed down to all key presidential aides in the Villa.
A bitter Ubah has also told friends and confidants that Offor took pleasure in his incarceration. One of them quoted Ubah as complaining: “Sir E (Offor’s pet name) did not bother to visit me even for a second. And he did not try to use his contacts in the police and other security agencies to help me regain freedom.”
Vowing never to reconcile with his erstwhile friend, Ubah has told associates that he would demand from Offor an immediate repayment of the N400m loaned to him last year to bury his father, Benneth Offor, a police inspector who was demoted to sergeant for extorting a huge bribe from one Ignatius Nwabueze from Uzoakwa in Ihiala of Anambra State, head of the Rosicrucian Order in Eastern Nigeria.
One source said Ubah would likely forego N50m of the funds loaned to Offor as “sympathy contribution to the burial expenses of his estranged friend’s father. It remained unclear whether Ubah would demand interest payment, too.
A relative of Offor’s said the businessman, who has fallen on hard times since Mr. Buhari took office, had used part of the loan from Ubah to immortalize his father by building an information technology school in his hometown of Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. The school is to be named Benneth Offor Memorial International IT School.
Apart from his inability to pay his Nigerian employees since Buhari became president, Offor reportedly owes several Nigerians. His list of creditors include suppliers of drinks, including top-of-the-range Champagnes, consumed during his father’s burial. The list also includes Innocent Chukwuma of Innoson Motors who is owed N10m for souvenirs supplied for the funeral.
Benneth Offor died in February 2016, but was not buried till nine months later because his contractor son was looking for funds for a lavish funeral ceremony. A fundraising committee headed by former Senate President Ken Nnamani was set up to assist. A funeral committee headed by one Tony Obi announced at a press conference on November 12 that President Buhari and Donald Trump, who had just been elected the American president, were among world leaders attending the burial. However, practically no government official attended it, apparently because Offor had been blacklisted by the Presidency.

Etisalat Nigeria Says Name Change Will Not Affect Operations
Mr. Ibrahim Dikko, the Vice President, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs, EMTS, made this known in a statement.
Dikko said that EMTS was aware of recent news reports regarding Etisalat Group’s withdrawal of the right to the continued use of the Etisalat brand in Nigeria by EMTS.
He said that EMTS had a valid and subsisting agreement with the Etisalat Group.
According to him, the agreement entitles EMTS to use the Etisalat brand notwithstanding the recent changes within the company.
“Indeed, discussions are ongoing between EMTS and Etisalat Group pertaining to the continued use of the brand.
“EMTS will issue a formal statement once discussions are concluded.
“The final outcome on the use of the brand in no way affects the operations of the business as our full range of services remain available to our customers,’’ he said.
Dikko said that EMTS launched in Nigeria in 2008 with “0809ja’’ to affirm the “Nigerianness’’ of its origin and sphere of influence.
He said that in nine years of operation, the company remained a prime driver and avid supporter of the Nigerian spirit of excellence.
According to him, the telecommunications company will continue to stay true to its “Naijacentric identity’’.
“This notion is strongly reflected in our core messages and depicted in major projects and initiatives, which we have been known to support.
“All these initiatives have their foundation embedded in supporting key aspects of the Nigerian fabric: building Nigerian businesses and empowering Nigerians with a focus on the youth.
“Nigeria remains the soul of EMTS’ business and we have made the brand alluring to our teeming subscribers, who see a piece of the spirit and character of Nigeria in everything we do.
“EMTS is here to stay and we wish to assure our esteemed customers that our core values of youthfulness, customer-centricity and innovation will remain the pillars on which we operate.
“We thank our esteemed customers for their abiding faith in us,’’ Dikko said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports since the month of March, Etisalat Group has been having the issues with the consortium of 13 banks over the payment 1.2 billion dollar loan.
The group had on Monday given Etisalat Nigeria three weeks ultimatum to stop the usage of its brand name.
