Security challenge Rivers state blamed FG

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has blamed Nigeria’s

security challenge on political interference by the Federal
Government. Wike said this on Monday when he received
participants of Senior Executive Study Group Three from the
National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS,
Kuru at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
“What we have seen in most cases is that security lapses are
a result of political interference,” he said. He claimed that
insecurity is fallout of the political interference of the
Federal Government in the operation of security agencies.
The governor added that Rivers State is working hard to
handle security challenges adding that Rivers State residents
are peace makers. Commenting on the Neighbourhood
Safety Corps, Governor Wike said that the agency was
established to complement the work of Federal Security
Agencies.
He added that the organisation was fashioned in line with
an existing model in Lagos State under the leadership of
respected retired military, police and paramilitary senior
officers.
