Ivory Coast striker Georges Griffiths shot dead by car-jackers in his home country
Ivorian striker, Georges Griffiths, who plays for Hungarian Premier League club, Diosgyor, has been shot dead in Ivory Coast.
The football star who was dubbed the ‘Next Didier Drogba’ was on a visit to his home city of Abidjan when he was shot and killed by carjackers on Thursday evening.
According to the Sun report, the 26-year-old was attacked in the capital's upmarket suburb of Cocody. Two armed thugs reportedly tried to steal Griffiths' Mercedes 4x4, and shot the striker when he refused to hand it over.

He was rushed to a hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.
Griffiths who began his career with Ivorian clubs Sirocco and Indenie won three caps for the Ivory Coast's Under-23 side in 2011.
He had a spell on loan from Sirocco to Sparta Prague before Hungarian outfit Lombard-Papa signed him in 2013.

In 2014, the striker signed with Diósgy?r where he made 34 appearances and scored 8 goals.
Georges Griffiths is the third Ivorian footballer to die this year, after the death of footballers Cheick Tiote and Eugene Koffi Kouame.
