The Lagos state police command reportedly arrested 42 suspected
homosexuals at Vincent Hotel at Weigh bridge in Owode Onirin area of the
state. The state Police Command spokesperson, Olarinde Famous-Cole who
confirmed the arrest, said the police got information that some
homosexuals gather at the hotel and use the place to have sex and
conduct wild parties. Acting on the tip-off, the police carried out a
raid on the hotel yesterday afternoon and arrested 42 suspected
homosexuals.
“About 42 suspected homosexuals were arrested and the hotel has been
cordoned off while investigation continues. They are in custody of the
Lagos State Task Force and will be charged to court soon,” he said
Recall that in January 2014, the Goodluck Jonathan administration
signed the anti-gay bill into law and proffers a 14-year jailterm for
anyone found guilty of committing acts of homosexuality in Nigeria
