Ohio judge is shot by the father of a rapist who was convicted of raping a 16-year-old girl
Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr, 65, was ambushed and shot outside a Steubenville, Ohio courthouse by Nathaniel Richmond, who was later killed by a probation officer.
The judge, who was armed at that time of the incident, reportedly returned fire 5 times during the exchange of gunshots with Nathaniel Richmond. Fortunately for the judge, Richmond was shot dead by a probation officer who was walking between buildings and heard the gunfire, according to officials.
Richmond, 51, was identified as the father of Ma’Lik Richmond who was one of the boys convicted of raping a 16-year-old girl who was passed out at an alcohol-fueled party. Ma'Lik was also 16 at the time of the rape incident.
The victim was photographed in compromising positions and the photos were shared by members of the football team.

Cincinnati is located, handled the vast majority of the rape case.
Both boys were high-profile players for the local Steubenville Big Red football team, a point of pride in the fading city.
Nathaniel
Richmond was present for every day of his son’s trial. At sentencing,
he apologized for Ma’lik’s actions and said his own troubled life was a
reason that this occurred in the first place. Ma’lik also tearfully
addressed the court, the victim and her family.
“Everyone
knows I wasn’t there for my son,” Nathaniel said in 2013. “I feel
responsibility for his actions. I feel highly responsible for his
actions.”
Ma’lik,
himself, was recently in the news when Youngstown State football coach
Bo Pelini discovered he was attending classes at the school and invited
him to walk on the team.
Richmond
was a promising running back for the Big Red as a high school
sophomore. After serving a year in juvenile in 2014, Richmond had
returned to Steubenville and played as a linebacker as a senior before
graduating. He attended two other schools before enrolling at YSU in
August of 2016. He has had no other incidents with law enforcement.
Pelini
told the Youngstown Vindicator that because Richmond had already shown
his maturity by attending the university, he didn’t think inviting him
onto the team in a non-scholarship role should be a problem. He promised
extra, although unspecified restrictions, and constant monitoring.
Richmond officially walked on in January. But this decision didn't go
down well with everyone.
Recently after a student launched a petition that called for his
removal from their college football team, citing his rape conviction.
The Youngstown State University was forced to announce on August 10 that
Ma'Lik would not be playing football this season but would remain part
of the football program and participate in practice.According to Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin, investigators say they are still looking for a motive in the shooting and haven't found a connection to the rape case.
The courthouse will now be guarded by heavily armed securities, while the FBI will be helping out in the shooting investigation.

The 2011 Senegalese League Champions have also been issued with a fine of 10 million francs (CFA) with Stade de Mbour being awarded the trophy as winners.
The club has however said they will appeal the decision. "We are going to appeal this penalty, which seems to us to be heavy and disproportionate, the Commission has been too heavy handed. We are not sure that these kinds of sanctions will put an end to the violence in our country," Club President Abdou Aziz Guèye said
Ongoing construction of engineered sanitary landfill in Epe
First civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande has urged residents of the State to cooperate with the present administration under the leadership of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in its bid to transform the solid waste management sector in line with global best practices.
Governor Ambode, through a new policy termed Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI), is seeking to revolutionize waste collection and management in the State with the aim of promoting public health and bequeathing the State with functional, livable and cleaner environment.
Under the initiative, which is billed to commence next month, 27,500 sanitation workers would be employed and deployed to all the political wards in the State to keep the inner streets clean 24/7, while mechanized sweeping equipment would be deployed to the highways.
Also, a consortium of reputable firms specializing in waste management led by Visionscape, has been assembled to collect waste in the residential areas, while the existing licensed Private Sector Participation waste managers, otherwise known as PSP operators, would collect commercial waste.
Speaking on the development, Jakande said any initiative geared towards bringing about clean environment should be supported by the people, just as he urged residents to cooperate with the State Government.
“Anything that is meant to clear refuse in any part of the State is welcomed. No State wants refuse and Lagos State cannot be an exception but I know that they have agencies in charge of keeping Lagos State as clean as it should and there is no reason why every citizen of Lagos State whether indigene or not should not support the government.
“So far, I have not seen any strong opposition to it but I believe that this present administration in Lagos State is doing very well and I want all of us in Lagos State to support the Governor. He has lived up to expectations. Lagos State will benefit in every sense from his activities and I must say we are lucky to have him,” Jakande said.
In an earlier statement, Governor Ambode had announced that the Olusosun dumpsite and others which had been major eyesores located within living neighborhood would be closed for engineered sanitary landfills, while the three transfer loading stations/material recovery facilities at Agege, Oshodi and Simpson and three waste depots at Mushin, Ogudu and Simpson are being rehabilitated and retrofitted to world class standard with the view to facilitating efficient waste collection and disposal operations.
He said that with the construction of sanitary landfills in place, issues of dumping of waste in drainage channels and on roadsides would finally be eliminated in the state.
Speaking at a sensitization workshop on 2017 Water Technology and Environmental Control Conference and Exhibition WATEC, held at Ikeja, Governor Ambode said the overall objective of the new environmental policy of his administration as encapsulated in the Cleaner Lagos Initiative, is basically to capitalize on the vantage position of Lagos as the world’s highest producer of waste by adopting a waste-to-wealth programme with the view to tackling environmental challenges and growing the state’s Gross Domestic Product GDP. “You see, I live in Ikeja and each time I have to pass through Motorways, I don’t like what I see. That is not a land fill site in Olusosun, it is a dump site. The place is an eyesore and it is the first thing you see when you are coming into Lagos and that is not what you should see in a city that is globally competitive. “The impression that has been given is that Olusosun is a land fill site but the answer is no. It is not scientifically treated. You only allow compactors to go and drop waste in a living neighborhood. Who does that? It has been there for almost 30 years and nobody looked at it, but we are now looking at it. The truth is this, with the CLI, we have to shut down Olusosun dump site and part of the contract is that Visionscape will give us new land fill sites that are scientifically treated”, Ambode said. He revealed that the integrated waste management services contract recently sealed by the State Government with a leading environmental utility group, Visionscape, is targeted at ending the perennial flooding confronting the state, and ensuring a clean and livable environment.
According to the contract spanning 10 years, Visionscape which specializes in providing turnkey solutions in areas of sanitation, energy and waste water treatment, will be responsible for door-to-door waste collection services to households in the state. While clarifying issues raised by some of the participants at the workshop, Ambode expressed excitement at the decision of Visionscape to key into the vision of his administration to revolutionize waste management in the state, pointing out that Lagos is generating the highest waste per day in the world more than New York.

Mark Zuckerberg aims for YouTube's audience by launching a new video service on Facebook called 'Watch'
The new service will feature some live events that Facebook has acquired streaming rights for, including a weekly Major League Baseball game. Other shows will be produced by video partners including National Geographic, Time Inc., NASA and the NBA.
The shows that have been announced suggest that Facebook is primarily taking its cues from YouTube. A blog post about the new Facebook service stressed that it is organized around "friends and communities."
Users will be able to personalize their feeds and follow shows they like, much like YouTube's channel subscription model. They will also be able to comment in real time, and a tab will show what their friends are watching.
Facebook will initially make the platform available on its desktop and app versions to a "limited group of people" in the United States, before rolling it out globally.

Paul Black had taken his daughter Pearl Black to a local park on Sunday and they were on their way home when an unoccupied car rolled down a hill at an address in Heolgerrig, Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, and demolished a wall which fell on Pearl. The toddler was taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil by air ambulance after the incident at 1.39pm on Sunday but died a short time later. Pearl's brother also suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Coroner's officer Gareth Heatley said: "The vehicle had been left parked with the automatic transmission in park and the handbrake fully applied. As the vehicle gained momentum down the driveway it has travelled across the road and on to the footpath opposite, demolishing the boundary wall. That same wall has collapsed. Tragically it fell on to one-year-old Pearl who has been walking on the footpath, causing crush injuries, I am told."
In a statement released by South Wales Police, they said: "Pearl was every single star in every single sky, she was as bright as the stars, when she looked at you with those eyes and she would melt your heart. She was the reddest pearl in the ocean and the sweetest melody ever written. She was the greatest dancer and she has left a massive hole in our hearts, the world will be a darker place without her."

Lassa Fever spreads to Yobe State; 4 people Quarantined - says Commissioner
Now, Dr Bello Kawuwa, Yobe state Commissioner for Health says Four people are being quarantined for clinical analysis in Yobe over suspected case of Lassa fever.
Kawuwa told newsmen in Damaturu that seven people were initially held, but three had been discharged after clinical analysis. The commissioner said though, earlier results did not indicate that the four people have Lassa fever, a second laboratory test would be carried out on them.
'About seven cases of suspected Lassa fever were reported in Yobe. They were subjected to normal clinical appraisal and three of the seven were looking less of Lassa fever. We will let you know when the result of the second laboratory test is released. We have isolated the cases to prevent unnecessary contact. Our epidemic response team has also gone to the affected communities to carryout contact-tracing as well as enlighten the people on how to deal with the situation'. Kawuwa said
