Girl, 3, Dies After Doctors Find 7 Needles Inside Her Body Following "black Magic" Abuse By Her Mother's Boss In India

A 3-year-old girl has died after being used as a "voodoo doll" by her mother's superstitious boss in West Bengal, India.
It was discovered that the child was also sexually assaulted. She was taken to hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal in a critical condition on July 15. There, doctors found she had suffered multiple internal injuries. She had been brutally abused and needles had been injected into her body. Further external injuries were also discovered, including ones close to her private parts that were caused by needles.
 "There are as many as seven needles forced into the child's body. The needles could not be taken out as it may cause further damage to her body. She is kept under observation," the hospital commented on her initial state.
The victim's mother's boss, a former home guard called Sanatan Thakur, who is in his mid-50s, practises voodoo and black magic.
Thakur employed the child's mother as a domestic worker and used the child as a voodoo doll. He used the child's body to practise black magic.
Doctors eventually succeeded in removing all seven needles from the child's body on July 18, and she was kept under observation. Unfortunately, she died Friday, July 28,  at the Bankura Medical College.
"She succumbed to sepsis and pneumonia between 2 am and 3 am," a hospital source said.
Sanatan Thakur is on the run and still at large. Police have lodged a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act against him.

He was rescued by Police who were called to the scene by residents.

Couple Jump To Their Deaths From 17-story Building Over $213k Debt To Govt (Photos)

A New York couple took a rare decision on Friday morning to jump to their deaths from a 17-story office building after battling for years to pay their debts.
53-year old Chiropractor Glenn Scarpelli and his wife Patricia, 50, jumped from a window of the ninth-floor office around 5:45 am, and landed in the East 33rd Street, near Madison Avenue, Police said.
According to Police, the office was the Chiropractor's former place of work, which had recently been permanently closed.
A note found inside a Ziploc bag in the woman’s pocket read: “Our kids are upstairs, please take care of them.”
The Ziploc bag also contained a letter from the Chiropractor along with their ID cards.
The man’s letter read: “WE HAD A WONDERFUL LIFE,” before touching on their spiraling debt.
The note continued: “Patricia and I had everything in life” but “we can not live with” the “financial reality,” sources said.

It was learned that the Scarpellis had a history of financial problems and had been pursued for dozens of outstanding tax liens by federal and city authorities since at least 1998.

The couple left behind their two children, Isabella, 20, and Joseph, 19.

Man Allegedly Received Hot Slap From SecuriT Officers For Challenging Taraba State Governor Who Delayed His Flight For 6 Hours

IG user @vanladi, last night narrated how he was allegedly manhandled by security aides attached to Taraba state governor when he challenged the governor for delaying their flight for six hours. Read his account below
"I booked an @overland flight from Jalingo to Abuja for 1pm today and when we all got to the airport we were told there was gonna be a 30mins delay which we agreed to. We waited for 2 hours without any information from the airline or the airport authorities. After 2 hours, I and my colleagues got so hungry that we had to look for food at the closest location to the airport which is the Nysc camp mammy market all because the airport is at a remote location far away from the town. All passengers at the airport kept complaining when minutes became hours and there no sign of us taking off soon. Finally at 7pm we were called to board only for us to be delayed in the plane further,few mins later the Governor of the state walks into the plane without the courtesy to apologize for keeping us from 1pm to 7pm(6 good hours). I then walk up to him and explain "sir I am a law abiding and tax paying citizen just like the other people on the plane whom u delayed from 1pm till now and we were not given the courtesy of an apology from the airline or from your office. This isn't fair to us sir and I just tot I express my griviance" (wetin I talk bad?). Before I knew it his aides rushed into the plane and started raining abuses on me and slapping me...dragged me out of the plane that who gave me the right to talk to "their governor" that he has the right to keep all of us till tomao if he wants to. I just looked with shock....a flight that I paid for with my hard earned money fah! Well he later called them to order and told them he wanted to see me. He explained he didn't know he kept us and I replied that his office knew and it was their job to offer apology and refreshment to us. Later I found out even the hostess and pilot had to go source for food when hunger started dealing with them. The painful part is that passangers in the airport that were complaining and shouting to the airline operatives while we waited for the flight kept mute and others joined the aides in berating me for talking to "their Governor". I just wonder where this nation is headed when public servants elected by the people to serve us become mini gods over the same electorate. Was I wrong with my action?

Sex Workers In Port Harcourt Brothel Protest Against Manager's Plan To Host Vigil After Pastor Claims It Will Prosper Their Business.

Commercial sex workers operating at Pedro Hotel in Azikiwe Street in Mile 2, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday protested over plan by its manager to force them to attend night vigil expected to hold yesterday night, Thursday July 27.
It was learnt that the sex hawkers became angry with the manager when he insisted that every occupant of the hotel must join the night vigil or her room would be padlocked until the vigil is over.
The manager who did not mention his name while he was shouting on the ladies said he has been shifting the date of the vigil to accommodate the ladies’ view, adding that nothing will stop him from postponing the vigil again.
He noted that the night vigil was for the interest of the ladies and the business, stressing further that any lady who failed to attend the vigil will see the other side of him.
Speaking to The Nation correspondent, the receptionist said nobody is in support of the plan to host night vigil in a brothel.
She disclosed further that the manager was approached by a pastor who now made him to believe that hosting night vigil with the ladies will increase God’s blessings and prosperity on the business.
She said the ladies have made their intention clear that they are not going to attend the vigil, adding that the choice of worshipping God is in the hand of the individual which cannot be forced upon.
One of the sex hawkers, who simply gave her name as Rose, said they have talk to the manager that such plan cannot work because they are in the business which they cannot leave to attend night vigil.
She said they are not against night vigil because sometimes some of them worship their God and also attend night vigil when it pleases them.
"The manager is just wasting his time, we are going to see what would happen tonight, we are here for business and not for some religious patronage. By tomorrow we are going to pay our rent because we pay him every Friday of the week.
“How do we cope to meet up with our rent? If we attend night vigil tonight is he going to allow us to stay in the rooms without payment. Another question I want to ask is that are we going to leave our customers at the room who have already paid for daybreak, so it is not going to happen."

Boko Haram Releases Video Of Abducted Oil Exploration Workers From The University Of Maiduguri

The so-called Islamic State faction of the sectarian terrorist group, Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility for the attack on a military-escorted convoy of oil exploration workers in the Chad Basin. Scores of soldiers and civilians died in the ambush. According to sources within the leadership of the insurgent group, the  Islamist terrorists did not immediately realize the composition of the convoy when they launched their attack. Such attacks on convoy are a common occurrence in Nigeria's beleaguered northeast zone where Boko Haram militants have been most active.

After the attack, the insurgent fighters abducted four persons contracted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). One of their victims died from injuries he sustained during the onslaught.
In a photo obtained by SaharaReporters through a journalist with access to the two factions of Boko Haram, the abducted lecturers are seen looking terrified and seated barefoot in some unidentified indoor facility.
It is not clear whether the Islamist insurgents intend to make ransom demands in exchange for the release of their victims.
However, their decision to release the photo of those they abducted may suggest a desire to seek a negotiated settlement to free the captives.
