Borno state House of Assembly suspends seating for one-month after Senator Ndume allegedly slapped one of the lawmakers
Members of the Borno state House of Assembly have announced the suspension of plenary for one month after one of the Senators representing the state in the Senate, Ali Ndume, slapped a member of the state House of Assembly, Habu bu Dala Aji, during an argument at a political meeting.
A statement released by the Speaker of the Assembly, Abdulkareem Lawan yesterday, said Aji was slapped by Ndume at his residence when he was trying to settle a misunderstanding between him and his electorate from Damboa. The Speaker also alleged that during the settlement, some hoodlums also attacked and beat up a member of the house, Mohammed Saleh Baga, who went into a coma and was hospitalized for three months. Part of the statement reads
'Following the incidents, the House resolved that all sponsors and those who attacked Saleh Banga should be arrested and arraigned before a court of law by security agencies. That the inspector general of police (IGP) and Senate President are to investigate the action of Senator Ndume’s slapping and humiliation of Hon. Habu Dala Aji. That the Kwaya-Kusar local council secretary should be relieved of her position as Secretary to the local Government'.

A man was left surprised at the reply he got when he proposed to his unsuspecting girlfriend.
The couple had been walking through a lawn in the presence of friends when the man moved slightly behind and went down on one knee. He asked his woman to marry him when she turned around to see him with the ring but she obviously thought he was kidding and threw her snack at him.
When she eventually discovered he was serious, she jumped on him in excitement and they both went tumbling to the ground. She eventually agreed to marry him and both of them had tears of pure joy.

Senator Dino Melaye has described President Buhari as a good man surrounded by cankerworms and caterpillars. Dino made the remark during plenary while members of the Senate were discussing the reinstatement and sack of wanted former pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina.
Dino says the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, who has been indicted in Maina's reinstatement, has brought nothing but disgrace to the Buhari-led administration.
“It is pathetic. I want to ask this question to the executive; should we continue in sin and ask grace to abound? Time after time, the AGF and minister of justice has abuse dthis office. We are not talking about Maina. We should talk about the integrity of the AGF and minister of justice. If the law officer has his hands stained then the entire nation is one a stained. Mr President is a good man and he means well but he is surrounded by cankerworms and caterpillars. We should have the audacity to take strong decisions. Nigerians would understand why the office of AGF and minister of justice is separated. BVN: Dabiri-Erewa appeals to CBN, AGF to give more time to Nigerians abroad to register
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has appealed to both the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to put modalities and logistics in place for Nigerians in the Diaspora to obtain their own Bank Verification Number (BVN) to avoid forfeiture of their savings in their respective bank accounts.
The appeal became imperative due to an interim order of forfeiture granted by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Oct. 17, 2017 for the banks to show cause within 14 days why the balances in such accounts should not be forfeited.
In a statement in Abuja by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Special Assistant Media to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, implored CBN to make it possible to all Nigerians in the Diaspora to have their BVN done in their countries of abode as there has been challenges in getting it before now.
The Nigerians in the Diaspora has been remitting billions of US Dollars back to the country on yearly basis, the highest on the continent of Africa, thus contributing to the socio-economic development of the country..

``I hereby appeal to the CBN to look into the challenges the Nigerians living abroad face in getting their BVN done and extend the deadline for them to get the BVN done’’, Dabiri-Erewa pleaded.
The Presidential Aide also pleaded with the commercial banks to make the procedure easier for their customers, especially those living outside the country, to be able to meet up with the new deadline.
The Federal Government had on the 28th September, 2017 instituted an action in court for the forfeiture of any balance in a bank account without a BVN.
"This is why the Attorney-General of the Federation should intervene in this matter to assist our Nigerians living abroad who at disadvantaged by allowing them more time to comply with the BVN directive", Dabiri-Erewa pleaded.
The present practice is that banks only permit deposits into such accounts. No withdrawal is allowed. Should the Federal Government succeed, the money is forfeited permanently.
Although the banks may challenge the action up to the Supreme Court, Dabiri-Erewa reiterated her appeals to Nigerians abroad to urgently take steps to register for the BVN.

Everybody is joining music for the wrong reasons' - Femi Kuti says, insists that the drug/substance abuse problem in Nigeria has to be tackled now
Femi, the eldest son of afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, gave his opinion on 'artistes' who join the music industry for the wrong reasons and the drug abuse problems arising in Nigeria. This was all said during a recent interview with HipTV.
On People joining the music industry for the wrong reasons, he said,
We must insist to teach our children music properly or else there will be pandemonium in the industry. Everybody is oining music for the wrong reason.. It's not about the fame. Music is very gidly and it's so important that if t's not done properly, I feat that we are going to have a very sad future in the industry. So thats's why I keep insisting that young boys and girls should learn a musical instrument.
On drugs and substance abuse in Nigeria, he said;
The drugs and alcohol abuse is everywhere, It's just not Nigeria. The great Europe and America - It's a big problem there too. But what they do since they know it's a problem is an institution - they have rehabilitation centers. When you cfrash, you go into rehab. The only institution we have is Yaba left and its not ghjen ghen enough. Sensible peope will understand there is a problem. How did America/Europe tackle these pronblems? Even my father's time, they were on hard drugs..Heroin, cocaine and everything. I don't know if Nigeria has gotten there but the Alchohol is a massive problem. We hare to start tackling it now or else we are going to be in big problem.

The two women on trial for murdering the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un were escorted by 200 armed policemen to the Malaysian airport where they allegedly poisoned him with a chemical, the United Nations classified as a weapon of mass destruction.
Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, and Doan Thi Huong, 28, a Vietnamese, are being charged with the killing of Kim Jong-nam smeared his face with VX, a chemical poison at the Kuala Lumpur’s international airport on 13 February.
As part of the trial, Aisyah, 25 and Huong, 29, were dressed in bulletproof vests as they were brought in to Kuala Lumpur International Airport along with court officials.
The suspects were then taken to a cafe called Bibik Heritage, where Aisyah met a man identified in court as 'Mr . hang' who allegedly wiped a liquid on her hands before she carried out the attack. They later headed to the clinic where Kim was taken after the attack and then to a taxi stand, where the women went after the alleged murder.
The authorities also led them to a toilet where one of the women had headed after the attack, and walked through a shopping area.
During the visit, one of the women Huong appeared unwell while Siti Aisyah broke down in tears. The women were then provided wheelchairs with prosecutors saying it was due to the weight of their protective clothing.
However, the visit was aimed at giving the judge and others involved in the high profile case a better understanding of how events unfolded on the day of the murder.

Doctor claims 12-year-old stepdaughter of Nicki Minaj's brother was penetrated as his rape trial get messier
The rape case involving Jelani Maraj, the brother to female rapper Nicki Minaj is getting more complex after a new evidence was revealed by a child abuse expert
According to graphic testimony, the medical records of the 12-year-old victim who is Maraj stepdaughter suggest she was penetrated.
On Friday, Dr. Aaron Miller, a child abuse expert testified as a witness for the prosecution, saying the girl's medical exam serves as proof that she was subjected to sex, Page Six reported.
'I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that [the girl's] medical exam can prove penetration,' Miller said on the stand as he showed the jury examination photos at Nassau County Supreme Court.
But in cross-examination, Maraj's attorney David Schwartz implied the medical evidence could have been caused by the girl, now 14, sleeping with another teenager, according Page Six.
“Assume the patient has a boyfriend who is 15 and she’s having sex for six months,” Schwartz asked the doctor. “Are those findings consistent with having sex with a 15-year-old boyfriend?”
The judge did not allow the doctor to answer the speculative question, citing speculation.
The prosecution claims Maraj raped the girl as often as four times a week in 2015, soon after he married her mother Jacqueline Robinson.
At the trial's opening arguments on Thursday, Schwartz told jurors that Robinson forced her way to marry the accused so that she could try to get money out of his famous sister.
He added that Robinson forced the alleged victim and her younger brother to lie to authorities about the rape allegations as part of her extortion plan.
Schwartz said Robinson allegedly told Minaj: 'I can make the charges go away for $25million.'
Nicki Minaj is expected to take the stand at her brother's child rape trial and tell jurors that the mother of the alleged victim did offer to make the accusations disappear in exchange for money.
